Game Developers

Are you working on a Winnitron AU game and think you’ll have it ready in time for Freeplay? Or do you have an existing Australian game on the Winnitron AU?

We’ll have a very large display board visible near the Winnitron AU on which we can place artwork, screenshots and various information about your games to showcase them beside the Winnitron AU. This is what the display board looks like:

So what can you put on here? Ideally we’re looking for a A4 or A3 laminated poster on which you must have:

  • The title of your game
  • A description of your game
  • Screenshots and artwork

Feel free to include optional information such as draft artwork, design FAQ or other explanations as to how you designed or built the game, whether it be a new creation or a port of an existing game.

An A3 / A4 template is provided below (click on the image to download the full size, editable Fireworks PNG). You can download a 30 day trial of Adobe Fireworks CS4 to edit the image, or if you already have an existing game on the machine, I can prepare the poster for you (but you need to provide the text and screenshots).

Once you have your poster, you must print it out yourself and bring it up on Saturday (there will also be an option to bring it up on Friday, but this is pending exact time information from Freeplay organisers). Unfortunately, I do not have the colour printing facilities available to actually print out posters for you. Remember to take into account page margins when designing your poster!

Existing Games

If you already have the game on the machine, all you have to do is email me with your intentions of bringing a poster as well as it’s size (A4 or A3 approximately). That’s it!

New Games

If you’re developing a new game for the Winnitron AU and think it will be ready to showcase at Freeplay ’11, you need to email me the following information (regardless of whether you are bringing a poster or not) before August 15th:

  • The name of the game
  • The author(s) of the game (this can be a team name or up to two individuals)
  • A short and attractive tagline for the game (less than 8 words)
  • A copy of the game itself in .exe format (you can ZIP or RAR this to send it over email)

If you intend on bringing a poster, you need to also include your intentions to do so as well as it’s approximate size (A3 / A4).

Please note that we may not have the facilities to upload games on the day, so it is absolutely essential that you get the game and the information via email to us by August 15th. We can not guarantee that we will have the ability to place games on the machine beyond August 15th (it depends on the Wireless Internet facilities available at the State Library).
